1. If you book a flight at least 2 weeks in advance, you will often get a cheaper airfare.
2. Try to fly during off-peak seasons - the best times of year to fly are from the middle of January to the end of February, April through May, and from the middle of September to mid-December.
3. Book your flight well in advance - tickets booked early are generally less expensive.
4. The cheapest days for flying are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
5. Sometimes buying a last-minute flight can be cheaper as major airlines just drop their prices about half an hour before takeoff to ensure that all seats are filled.
6. Be prepared to buy as soon as you find a good flight deal. If you find an airfare for 35% lower than a similar published ticket, do not attempt to get a better deal, as good deals disappear quickly and you may just lose your chance!
